Dental Implants

When you’re living with a missing or failing tooth, it presents daily challenges.

Chewing and eating your food becomes difficult, which affects your health and nutrition. Smiling and talking in front of others may feel embarrassing, which affects your self-esteem as well as your personal and professional relationships. You may not even realize that it’s also affecting your oral health.

The good news is that dental implants may be the solution for you, and McCall Family Dentistry can help.

Missing Teeth and Oral Health

Did you know that your missing tooth is negatively impacting your oral health?

When your root is missing, your bone has nothing to support and it begins to deteriorate, putting you at risk for more tooth loss. When your tooth is missing, your healthy remaining teeth begin to shift, which puts them at risk for fractures and other damage.

Unfortunately, a missing tooth is a downward spiral for more tooth loss.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is the best option for restoring a missing tooth because it replaces both your root and your tooth. A biocompatible titanium post is surgically placed into your bone to replace your root. After the appropriate healing time, the implant integrates with your bone and creates a stable foundation for your new tooth, or porcelain crown.

A customized porcelain crown takes the place of your missing tooth and attaches to your implant with an abutment. This completes your new tooth, and with your dental implant, you’ll enjoy all the function you had with your natural tooth. It’s custom shaded to complement your smile, and offers longevity because with excellent home care and regular dental check-ups, it can potentially last for a lifetime.

Meet Our Doctor:

Dr. Ryan McCall, DDS FAGD
Dentist

Dr. Ryan McCall, or "Dr. Ryan" as he is known to our patients, is a Geneva native who has strong ties to the tri-cities communities.

He attended Illinois State University and earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. Although studying the periodic table provided hours of entertainment, he knew he had to try his hand at something that would allow him to give back to the community. He decided to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Dr. Ryan moved back to the big city, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the ...

Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Dental implants require a couple of factors to be in place for success, and those are:

  • The patient is in good overall health.
  • There is enough healthy bone structure to support the dental implant.

Drs. James and Ryan McCall can determine if dental implants will work for you with a thorough examination and x-rays.

At McCall Family Dentistry, we can guide you through the implant process from start to finish. We’ll recommend a trusted specialist to place your implant, and after your healing time has passed, you’ll return to our office to receive your new crown. The result will be a functional new tooth that naturally complements your smile.

What will it feel like to be able to order whatever you want at your favorite restaurant again? Wouldn’t it be great to smile freely in the family photo this year?
