Preventative Dentistry

At McCall Family Dentistry, we believe that prevention is the key to achieving and maintaining optimum oral health. This is why Dr. Jim and Dr. Ryan like to see our patients every six months or twice per year.

With these visits, we can ensure that we detect any oral health issues such as oral cancer, periodontal (gum) disease, or tooth decay in their earliest stages. This gives you the best chance of recovery with the least invasive treatment.

Periodontal Health and Preventative Care

Because of emerging studies, we now understand the important connection between periodontal health and your overall health and well-being. Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, has been linked with other health concerns in the body such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stroke. We know that the bacteria that cause gum disease can enter your bloodstream, travel to other areas of your body, and contribute to the inflammation that causes these other conditions.

Prevention is your best line of defense against periodontal disease since regular visits allow Dr. Jim and Dr. Ryan to detect it in its earliest stages. We’ll screen you at every check-up appointment, and if we detect gingivitis (the early stage of gum disease), we can help you effectively manage it with a thorough cleaning and improved home care.

If you notice that your gums are red and swollen or bleed when you brush your teeth, please contact us right away. These are early indicators of gingivitis, and we encourage you to schedule a cleaning and check-up with McCall Family Dentistry.

For patients suffering from periodontitis, the advanced stage of gum disease, we provide a deeper cleaning that reaches below the gum line to remove plaque and tartar build-up. We may recommend antibiotic therapies and additional cleanings throughout the year as well to help you keep gum disease at bay

"I Highly Recommend Coming Here"

My first visit to McCall Family Dentistry was really good! Dr. Ryan was super nice, and made my experience not so bad! Who likes the dentist?! I have such a fear of them, but he explained everything and made sure I was good through the entire procedure. Everyone in this office was very friendly and seemed happy to be there. I highly recommend coming here especially if you're not to happy with the one you have now, or just searching.

Patient Education

Our goal is to help you achieve and maintain a healthy and beautiful smile for a lifetime. Along with prevention, we also utilize patient education to help us achieve this goal. We have three highly skilled hygienists who ensure all our patients are educated on the importance of oral health as well as proper brushing and flossing techniques at each visit.

For more complex cases, Dr. Jim and Dr. Ryan work together to develop treatment plans. We want our patients to be empowered to make the right decisions about their oral health and choose treatments that will best suit their lifestyles and budget. We also want to provide tools and the knowledge of how they can prevent further health problems.

At McCall Family Dentistry, you’re going to find high quality dentistry for the entire family delivered by a caring and dedicated team. Give us a call today to learn more!

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend your child come see us for their first visit between the ages of 2 and 3. We’ll start slow with a “happy visit” and proceed with any needed treatment only when they feel comfortable. This allows us to help them acclimate to our office with a ride in the big chair and an introduction to our dental instruments, while keeping their experience fun and positive. We can also begin to monitor their dental development and make you aware of any concerns early on.

If you are scheduling your own cleaning and exam, we encourage you to bring your child with you so that they can see what the process is like and understand that going to the dentist is fun and not scary. Just let us know when you schedule your appointment, and we'll be happy to add a few minutes to count teeth and get your child's first exam in!

As your child gets older, we offer additional services for children such as fluoride treatments and dental sealants, which protect small teeth. We look forward to building a lifelong relationship with your child, which will set them up for success in their future dental appointments.

Periodontal (gum) disease is a serious dental issue that plagues more than half of American adults. At McCall Family Dentistry, many patients see us for treatment of periodontal disease, and our hygienists provide gentle care to those suffering from it. Rest assured that whatever stage of gum disease you’re facing, our team is well equipped to help you.

Gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease, and the good news is that if the condition is detected early on, you may be able to effectively manage your condition with a thorough professional cleaning and improved home care. We can detect gingivitis when we screen you for gum disease during your six-month examinations. If you notice that your gums appear red and swollen or they bleed when you brush your teeth, contact our office right away as these are the early indicators of gingivitis.

Periodontitis is the advanced stage of gum disease, and it’s in this stage that damage occurs. Periodontitis will require a deeper cleaning to reach below the gum line and remove tartar and plaque build-up. Unfortunately, there is no cure for gum disease, but our hygienists and doctors can recommend additional cleanings and other therapies to help patients with periodontitis maintain their oral health.

At McCall Family Dentistry, we’ve built our reputation on honesty and family values over the last forty years.

We truly are a family-owned and operated practice. Drs. Jim and Ryan McCall are father and son, and Dr. Ryan grew up in Geneva and attended Geneva schools his whole life. Dr. Ryan's wife, Lindsey, is the marketing and accounting manager for the practice.

We consider our staff members and patients to be part of our dental family, and you’ll notice this right away when you visit our practice.

We practice with integrity and strive to make every patient's experience pleasant and enjoyable. You'll appreciate the modern, yet comfortable, atmosphere of our office and the latest dental technology we use to make your appointments more efficient and more comfortable.

When you choose to work with McCall Family Dentistry, you become part of our dental family, and you'll appreciate the difference that working with your dental family makes.
